Re: Saturday football
Pagey - Your hard on for Rice is a bit cringe to be honest, but yes I worded it wrong, he has improved them in the respect that he is better than Partey and the Turkish bloke who has left, but if they finish second or below this season then he hasn't been the difference in that respect.

Re: Saturday football
Manuel, there will never be an argument that Rice hasn’t improved Arsenal. He improved them the second he walked through the door.

Re: Saturday football
I think we’ll win it, regardless of Southgate. The experience of reaching the final of the last Euros, along with the semi-final of the World Cup prior to that, will be invaluable.

Our top players are all playing at a higher level now, and that will be the clincher for me. Bellingham and Kane will have that winning mentality installed into them.

Re: Saturday football
Pagey, on the England Euros comment you forgot to factor in the Southgate effect, he makes Moyes look like Pep !!!

Re: Saturday football
Arsenal will no doubt get good value for him, but we did also get a very good price. Would have Arsenal paid much more than 105? No, is the answer.

Plenty of other examples down the years of clubs buying players for large fees and still getting good value, Man Utd practically gave Ronaldo to Madrid. Good value with Rice yes, but not anything we haven't seen many times before. They finished second last year, so if they don't win it this year then there is the argument that he hasn't improved them.

Pagey 12:09 Wed Dec 6
Re: Saturday football
They’ve bought a world class midfielder who will get better with each season, and they’ll have him for the next 7/8 years. He’s not just a ‘defensive’ midfielder either. He offers so much more than that.

£105m was a snip.

Re: Saturday football
fraser - Yea lol, there were a couple of experts on here who said Arsenal would finish outside the top 4, probably the same posters that said Kane isn't a world class number 9.

Rice is a top player, but it's ott to call 105 mil a bargain, but agree that England will win the Euro's.

Re: Saturday football
Not sure Arsenal got an absolute bargain with Rice? Hes certainly a great player but was sold for a big fee for a DFM!

I look at it in the way that if Rice had stayed would we be in a better position that we are now? I doubt it, then would we have signed all 3 of Alverez, Kudus and JWP, again i doubt it, certainly not Alverez and i doubt Kudus.....

Overall, both clubs got a good deal IMO, but i do find Arsenal fans a bit unsufferable, almost taken over from the Scouse as the worst, whingy entitled bunch of delusional cunts around in the PL

Re: Saturday football
We all knew that Arsenal were getting an absolute bargain with Rice. The bloke is pure class and will continue to improve.

Rice, Bellingham and Kane pretty much equals the Euros for England for me. They’ve all had big moves, they’re all having great seasons and their confidence will be on another level. If they all stay fit, no other team comes close.

Re: Saturday football
It's OK I've read on here Arsenal were one season wonders and wouldn't be getting top four this season.. Annoyingly that doesn't seem to be the case... Would have loved them to drop points tonight . Their fans are getting far too smug again..

Hmmm, Luton now 3-2 up on Arsenal after going 1-2 down? Some time left but got to admire Luton and their managers “have a go” approach

Re: Saturday football
Watching the City Spurs game on Motd and most of the goals seem to have come from giving the ball away by this tippy tappy playing out of defence lark. Quite incredible that a tactic to try and keep the ball ends up in conceding plenty of goals. Don't see a Parkes/Miklosko safe punt up the field too often these days.
